Don’t under any circumstances try to pull out in front of an ambulance at an intersection when
A) they have the green light
B) they have their lights and sirens on.
It will end badly for the crew but worse for you

I’ve seen an ambulance trashed very similarly to that. It was, however, caused by another responder to the scene coming the other way too fast who lost control. Fortunately no personnel in the ambulance for that one.

If you pull out in front of an ambulance, or any emergency vehicle, in pursuit, you deserve to have your gonads replaced with fireworks.

I saw someone get t-boned by an ambulance in front of the gas station where i worked as a teen. Ambulance kept going to the hospital..
Later that day a couple EMS guys were in for coffees and scratch tickets and I mentioned it to them - I ended up doing a witness statement for the ambulance crew.

I did once.
But only because that ambulance was the tail vehicle for the large motorcycle group ride I was on, and after helping to block the intersection so that all the bikes could get through, I was SUPPOSED to pull in front of the ambulance to resume my place in the ride.
I’ll tell you, though, despite the special circumstances, doing that went against every instinct I have!

I cannot imagine trying to drive an ambulance in Chicago traffic

It blows. But this incident happened in a suburb of Chicago

not that people are less preposterously selfish drivers there
